Keighley Shared Church
At Keighley Shared Church we have a tree with a difference this year. Through the season of Advent and in our online services we’ll be adding decorations to this tree that help to tell the stories of those characters in the Bible who came before and prepared the way for Jesus.
This is known as a ‘Jesse Tree’ and is named after the father of King David. As it says in Isaiah Chapter 11:
‘A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him – the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge
and of the fear of the LORD.’

During Advent we will be watching and waiting, praying and longing for more of the presence of Jesus. We will be telling through this Jesse tree, God’s great salvation plan for all of creation that finds its fulfilment in Jesus.
It’s a big tree and we’d invite you also to send or bring in prayers that can be hung on the tree.

Resources to help you worship at home
I know that we will miss the opportunity to gather but I hope that every day in all of our homes there will be worship and prayer to sustain us as church but also to bring before God the needs of our world.
I’d like to encourage you to keep the habit of Sunday worship at your usual time so that as you sit down you can imagine others all joining together.
We’ve produced some printed orders of service with suggestions for reading and prayer and these will be delivered to those who wish. Why not look out an old hymn book and sing or listen to your favourite hymns? Please see links below.
For those with access to the internet or with a Smartphone here are some We are now live streaming and recording services for you to enjoy. Please click on the worship tab on the home page.
