11-18 Years

Our young people’s ministry is a place that is respectful and allows young people to engage with all the joys and struggles that they are living through and how the Bible speaks to that. Anyone is welcome, those who have been involved with church all their life and those who are searching to know more about God.

What We Offer for 11-18s

Young people should have the space to explore what faith means for them and what that means for their lives. Being a teenager brings all sorts of challenges and at Keighley Parish we want all young people to feel that they can engage with these issues of life and faith in an engaging way. We are currently developing our youth work and hope to offer lots more provision in the future.

Monthly Coffee Club for 14-18s

On the second Sunday of the month, 11.45am – 12 noon, meet in the entrance foyer at St Andrew’s

Our coffee club meets in our Parish Office on North Street (we gather in the church beforehand and return to church afterwards, in line with the end of the 10.45 service).  This is an informal space for young people to go deeper into the Bible and issues that affect them. Breakfast is provided on a pre-order basis so please get in touch if you or your teenager would like to join this group.

Breakfast Club for 9-13s

The second Sunday of the month, 10.45am – 12 noon, meet in the entrance foyer St Andrew’s

This group meets in our Parish Office on North Street (we gather in the church beforehand and return to the church afterwards, in line with the end of the 10.45 service). It provides a relaxed space for young people to explore questions of life and faith. The group leaders plan activities guided by what the young people would like to do, but sessions will typically include Bible studies, topical discussions, general chat and games, all enjoyed over breakfast.

If your child would like to attend this group please let us know as we pre-order breakfast.

Social activities

We hope to put on some social events for our young people over the course of the year – more info to follow.

Young people are very welcome to join our wider parish social activities – these can be found on the ‘what’s on page’ and in our weekly parish newsletter.

Getting involved in our services and ministries

Our young people are warmly invited to get involved in our church community by playing a role in our Sunday services or helping with one of our other ministries. Roles that young people might like to take on include helping with sound, the projector, reading or prayer rotas and children’s groups. Please get in touch with the Parish Office if you’d like to know more.

For further information about any of our children’s work please contact our Children and Families Worker, Kathryn: kathryn@keighleyparish.org. Alternatively, you can ring the office on 01535 607003 or use the contact form.

Other Age Groups

Under Fives

We have two toddler groups running in term time at St Mark’s and St Barnabas. Both groups offer a welcoming space for play, craft, songs, snacks and hot drinks. We also have provision for young children during some of our Sunday services.

5-11 Years

Our children’s ministry aims to offer children the opportunity to explore faith in many different ways, learning about the stories and teachings of the Bible through story, song, games, crafts and interactive activities. We hope children will have an active relationship with God and deserve the best start to that.

Safeguarding

The Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales and all parishes within it adopt Church of England policies and practice guidance relating to safeguarding.
