5-11 Years
Our children’s ministry aims to offer children the opportunity to explore faith in a variety of ways, learning about the stories and teachings of the Bible through story, song, games, crafts and interactive activities. We hope children will have an active relationship with God and believe they deserve the best start to that.
What We Offer for 5-11s
We are working hard to develop our 5-11s ministry across Keighley Parish. We currently offer Sunday morning children’s groups at St Andrew’s and monthly family services at St Mark’s and St Barnabas – see below for full details. We would love for children in Keighley and our surrounding areas to come and find out more about God and learn what it is to worship Him.
Children’s Groups at St Andrew’s Church (Keighley Shared Church)
Every Sunday (apart from 3rd Sunday of the month), 10.45am
A place where children can come and learn about God in a fun, safe environment. Our sessions include games, activities, crafts, Bible stories, prayer and songs.
Breakfast Club for 9-13s
The second Sunday of the month, 10.45am-12 noon, meet in the entrance foyer St Andrew’s Church
This group meets in our parish office on North Street. It provides a relaxed space for young people to explore questions of life and faith. The group leaders plan activities guided by what the young people would like to do, but sessions will typically include Bible studies, topical discussions, general chat and games, all enjoyed over breakfast.
If your child would like to attend this group please let us know as we pre-order breakfast.
Monthly Family Services
3 o’clock Service at St Mark’s, Utley – 3pm on the second Sunday of each month.
A relaxed, interactive service, ideal for families with young children. Includes a Bible story, crafts, songs and prayer activities. Followed by a party tea.
Messy Church at St Barnabas – 3.15pm, usually on the first Wednesday of the month.
Perfect for families to come to after school – this is service includes crafts, a Bible story, song and hot meal.
Please note, this service may occasionally move to a different Wednesday to avoid school holidays – this will be advertised on our news page and on Facebook but please contact us if unsure.
All-age Worship at St Andrew’s – 10.45am on the third Sunday of the month.
An informal service which is accessible to all ages. Please note, there are no children’s groups this week as it is a chance for us to worship together as a whole-church family. Activities and toys for younger children are provided at the side of church.
Summer Holiday Club
Shipwreck Holiday Club is running 1st – 3rd August at St Andrew’s Church for children aged 5-11. Click here for full details and booking information.
For further details about any of our children’s work please contact our Children and Families Worker, Kathryn Hardeman: kathryn@keighleyparish.org. Alternatively, you can ring the office on 01535 607003 or use the contact form.
Other Age Groups
Under Fives
11-18 Years
Our young people’s ministry is a place that is respectful and allows young people to engage with all the joys and struggles that they are living through and how the Bible speaks to that. Anyone is welcome, those who have been involved with church all their life and those who are searching to know more about God.
Safeguarding
The Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales and all parishes within it adopt Church of England policies and practice guidance relating to safeguarding.
