  • Establishing the Eagle Nest space on a converted bus in Braithwaite and running a pop-up shop and CAP Money Skills programme – 10hrs a week £12 per hour until end of August

Post: temporary position from April August
Salary: £12 per hour

Hours of work: 10hrs over two days

Reporting to: Mission and Outreach Team vicar

Purpose of the Job:

This new post is to launch the opportunity of delivering a food pantry popup on Braithwaite
estate on a converted single decker bus. Liaising closely with the Good Food shop, you will
establish the space to be welcoming and accessible for people who need subsidised food in
the area. Encouraging them particularly to sign up with the Credit Union and to access CAP
training.

In addition it is anticipated that you will work closely with the immediate neighbourhood
building good relations and with staff at Merlin top primary school, the council street
wardens and the youth service.

Aim

To enable people to access subsidised food that provides choice and dignity to those
who are struggling financially

To sign post people to CAP,

To run money management programmes

To provide a space that enables people to start to build good relationships with the
church

Main Responsibilities

1) To establish a warm and welcoming place for people to meet others
2) To manage the stock and ordering of food so that people can shop from a variety of items

3) To build good relationships with local people

4) To identify areas of need through asking people to complete a questionnaire or by
undertaking a brief interview with people (to help with future funding applications)

5) To trial craft activities

6) To keep the bus clean and tidy

7) To provide light refreshments

LinkAge – Social Activities in Utley; Long Lee; Ingrow  Closing date 27.3.23 (12 noon)

Job Description

Post: This position is available as 5hrs at Utley, 5hrs at Long Lee, 5hrs at Ingrow. The role can be just for one area or for all three.

Salary: £12 per hour and 3% pension option

Hours of work:           5 hrs at Utley – Monday

5hrs at Long Lee – Tuesday

5hrs at Ingrow – Thursday

Reporting to: Mission and Outreach Team vicar

Purpose of the Job:

This new project will aim to establish a warm and welcoming place that engages local people, who find themselves isolated due to age or disability, in meaningful activities. This project will work alongside the existing outreach programmes in each of the venues.

It is anticipated that those attending will contribute to the design of the activities and will support the running of it.

Aim

  • To support and empower isolated people to contribute to the running of social activities for local people to attend
  • To provide a professional service that enables people to link with others and establish new friendships
  • To collect local stories that will form an exhibition at the end of the two years.

Main Responsibilities

  • To establish a warm and welcoming place for people to meet others
  • To provide light refreshments
  • To provide activities for people to try out
  • To adhere to Keighley Parish’s health and safety procedures; GDPR; Safe guarding procedures
  • To ensure that the place is welcoming to all people
  • To hold a register that includes first point of contact for those attending
  • To recruit and support volunteers to help run LinkAge
  • To identify local agencies that can provide support and advice around benefits, staying safe, staying healthy
  • To provide regular monitoring to the line manager and an update report to the PCC
  • To inform the local area about the new group, through door knocking, press release etc
  • Identify activities that could be run as tasters, for people to try so that people can try things out
  • Develop links with church members and ensure there is clear communication between the congregation and the new group
  • To complete other tasks as directed by your line manager, appropriate to this post.
