Cap Debt Centre Manager

We are looking for a “people person” who can engage with the local community and provide the first line of support for families who are struggling under the weight of unmanageable debt.

There is no requirement for in-depth financial knowledge because the debt advice is provided by CAP’s head office team who also negotiate with creditors and work with each client until they are debt free. CAP will also provide full training and ongoing support for the role.

This exciting role will include:

  • Promoting the debt service locally

  • Recruiting a team of volunteers from the church

  • Visiting the clients in their homes (accompanied by another volunteer)

  • Carrying out a fact find with clients then returning to communicate the financial plan produced by CAP

  • Pastorally supporting the clients whilst on their journey to becoming debt free, together with the volunteer team

  • Looking to share the Christian faith with clients in sensitive and appropriate ways and offering opportunities to connect them with a local church

The role starts in November 2024 and is for 16 hours per week. Precise working hours are flexible, however, client visits normally happen during regular working hours (9am – 5pm Monday to Friday)

Salary £10,483 per annum, plus travel expenses for client visits etc.

Training will be delivered online from 5th November to 7th December (about 50 hours over five weeks). Most of this can be completed flexibly to suit your circumstances.

For an informal chat about the role, please contact Duncan Green (07422 650892) or Rev’d Alastair Kirk (07725 991073). Applications consisting of a CV and a covering letter need to be submitted to revalastair@keighleyparish.org by Monday 9th September at 5pm.

There is an occupational requirement for the Debt Centre Manager to be a Christian.
